Who I am...

Updated: Feb 15, 2021

I know it is not necessary, but I feel compelled to give you a little back ground of who I am and why I'm here. Shall we...lol

Have you ever had something just nagging you, but you never put any time and/or effort into it? Well, I have and it is called TheRLSLife.com. lol For years I have wanted to start a blog and post to social media, but I never did. Well, I did post a few stories to my blog a couple of years ago, but never pursued it like I felt I should. Never have I been able to shake the desire to start a blog and be an active part of social media. As I write this, the words are flowing and my thoughts are clear as if God has been waiting for me to make...a...move. Right now, I don’t know if it is because of covid or even my desire to be a stay at home mom, but I have been taking the steps, though small, toward creating my blog and my presence to help that one person whom may be waiting on me and my obedience. If your eyes are reading this then that means my prayer for courage has been answered and my curiosity about this blog, who it could help and where it can go has become too strong to ignore.

Who am I, really?

“This man was in the college library on a Saturday. I knew he was a keeper.”

On my "About Me" page I mentioned I am a mom of a 9, 7, & 1 year old. I have two boys and one girl, the precious one year old. My boys are in 4th and 2nd grade, currently attending school virtually, and yes it is tough, but we are trudging through it. Right now since I work full-time, fortunately, family has been able to help us with the kids.

My husband and I met in the library on a Saturday, chilllle (in my Sarah Jakes-Roberts voice), fourteen and a half years ago and we have been together ever since. This man was in the college library on a Saturday. I knew he was a keeper. lol Like my marriage, Special Education grabbed my heart and hasn't let go for fourteen years. Ten years of my career has been as a Special Education Resource and Inclusion Teacher, as well as a Self Contained Teacher for students with Autism. Currently, I am in my fourth year as an Educational Diagnostician. Though I am no longer in the classroom, I continue to work with teachers and students in the educational setting.

My favorite color is RED. If it was esthetically appealing I would write this whole blog in red. lol It could have to do with my birthday being on Valentine's Day, but either way I love it. I literally want a "red room" just for me that is red from the walls to the floor to all the decor. It is a bit embarrassing, but the undeniable truth. I also love all things beauty. I do my own manicure, pedicure, hair, underarm waxing, eyebrows, makeup, basically anything beauty I pretty much execute myself 90% of the time.

As mentioned earlier, I am not a vegan, but I do limit my meat consumption. As of now, I only eat seafood and that is on a limited basis. My mother is a Breast Cancer survivor and as it runs in our family, but no BRCA1 or BRCA2, so as a personal choice I have decided to limit my meat and dairy. My goal is to eat 100% plant-based eventually, but I have not reached that maturity level, yet.

For This Blog

Based on my experience as a working mom, wife, DIY queen, etc., I feel I have so much to share. I have ideas, thoughts and things I want to publish to help you or the next mother who may be struggling with the very thing I figured out over these nine years of being a working mom. Maybe you want to cook, but you feel like you do not have the time. You may want to cut back on meat, but not sure how the kids may handle it. Check out my quickest meals that to this day blow my mind at how cheap, fast, can be meatless and kid friendly. Maybe you want to workout, but you do not feel like you can't manage another to-do. I am here to tell you yes you can. It may not look like Instagram, but you can get it done. I did it. Also, I want to share small businesses, like up and coming. Feature other people that have hacks that they may want to share and help get more eyes on their blog or product. I want to share my makeup tips, hair, DIY's and sometimes just chit chat.

Are we Friends, yet?

“My prayer is that you plan to stick this out with me.”

I look forward to seeing where this can go as well as hearing from you! My prayer is that you plan to stick this out with me. I would love to hear from you and learn from you. Just so I know I'm not the only one, is there anything you want to do but have been putting it off? Has Covid had you re-thinking your life? Are you working on anything great and out of your comfort zone?

Thank you for your time! TheRLSLife
