Wearing a size 11 shoe since I was 11 years old wasn’t the easiest thing to live with at that time. Growing up there was no internet like it is today. In order for my mom and I to find shoes we had to go store to store or look through a catalog. Looking through the catalog was always a sad time because all of the shoes I liked stopped at a size 10 and I did wear a size 10, when I was 10 years old. My mom has it a little harder than I because she wears a size 12 shoe. As I looked through the catalogs I always prayed to God for my foot not to grow any longer because I saw the struggle she had and I loved shoes so much I wanted to have some options. She pretty much had no options. Today, depending on the establishment I don’t even look at the shoes in the aisle because I don’t want to disappoint myself or waist time, so I go to the cashier and ask, “What size do you go to?” It was always with a hopeful smile, but I was always prepared to move right along to the next store.
My favorite store to go into was Payless Shoe Source. Back in the day when online shopping wasn’t the go to, we could walk into some Payless Shoe Source and have shoes to actually try-on in a size 11, 12 and sometimes a 13. At Payless there was no playing with your emotions. The shoes that they had available in a size 11 were all together in one section. Wam bam thank you ma’am. I wish all stores did this in order to make the shopping trip easier and straight to the point for us extended sized wearers. That’s why I have a love hate relationship with DSW Discount Shoe Warehouse.
At DSW they have their clearance shoes set up by size, fortunately, but they also have the nerve to put size 11 shoes in the many aisles of the store. Now, the selection for size 11 and up is very slim in-store so why they do not create a specialty size section, I do not know. Every store needs to have a specialty size section in order to make it easier and a more meaningful shopping experience. To say all of that, I am grateful they even carry a size 11. I know I can go in there and depending on the amount of money I want to spend I can come out of there with a pair of shoes.
Well, I guess that is enough of my rant. Here are 10 stores that sell affordable (which for me means under 50$) shoes in a size 11 and some 12. (in-store and/or online)
Let me know some places you have happen upon a pair of size 11 and up shoes that are affordable, let’s say under 50$. That can include online only stores too!! I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you for your time!! TheRLSLife

Disclaimer:
The selection is limited in some of the stores I shop in. They often tell me to go online.
I would recommend googling to see where the nearest store is to your location. Also, don’t be afraid to call the store to see what size they go to in-store.
